Phoenix is a Norwegian drama. The story takes place in Oslo where Jill, a local teenager, is the responsible adult in her small family. She cares for her loving but mentally unstable mother and her younger brother.
From the first shots of the film you can feel that this is not your usual family drama. The move has a very strong, dark and rather mystical visual style. Director Camilla Strom Henriksen had a very distinguish idea of what the family's house needs to look like. The house is a very important part of this story and it is actually another character. It's one of these cases when location is not just a place to tell the story - the location itself is a story.
So how did we find our location?
